Diploma of Accounting

COURSE OVERVIEW

This course focuses on building professional accounting financial management skills that are fundamental in all accounting positions; Graduates will have a thorough comprehension of the principles of accounting. The primary pathway from the Diploma of Accounting qualification is employment in accounting job roles with duties such as:

> Introducing and maintaining accounting systems

> Maintaining internal control systems

> Preparing financial statements for a non-reporting entity

> Preparing tax returns

> Reporting on business performance

> Managing small teams

> Developing business plans

> Preparing accounting reports managements

Location of Course Delivery

This course is delivered from Lonsdale Institute’s Melbourne and Sydney city campuses. Melbourne is located at 277 Flinders Lane, Melbourne, Victoria. Sydney is located at 72 Bathurst Street, Sydney, New South Wales.

Delivery Approach and Mode

Delivery of the course is based on 20 hours face to face delivery per week over a period of 20 weeks delivered over 1 semester. This course is only available as face to face delivery for overseas student visa holders but is also available online, classroom and blended delivery for other participants.

Course Duration

This course is delivered over 30 weeks. However, depending on the time of enrolment and holiday periods throughout the year, the total duration of the course could be up to 40 weeks (including holidays).

Delivery and Assessment

A variety of methods are incorporated into the course to accommodate different learning styles. These include project work, reports, portfolio development as well as individual presentations.

Entry Requirements

Year 12 or equivalent literacy and numeracy levels or equivalent

or

Provision of evidence of competency of Certificate IV in Accounting or other relevant CIV level qualification or work experience

and

Students must be 18 years of age or over

An English language proficiency score of 5.5 IELTS (or equivalent) for International students.

Pathways

After achieving the Diploma of Accounting, candidates may undertake an Advanced Diploma of Accounting. This course may also be used as a pathway into a Bachelor of Accounting.
